LETTER FROM THE EDITOR
For the past 70 years, August has been an important month for the Indonesian people, as it contains the date upon which they commemorate their independence day and their freedom from colonial oppression. More importantly, it is the month in which both the government and the people reflect on how far Indonesia has travelled and offers a chance to reboot their sense of nationalism and focus upon achieving the main objectives contained within the preamble to the country’s constitution.
Interestingly, the issue of nationalism became a particularly contentious one over the course of the past month as the case of Arcandra Taher hit the headlines....
